Kassie

Summer

Well hello, I have been lazy about writting on my blog since I am on facebook. I enjoy going into facebook to see what everyone has posted there and playing some of the games, I especially like veiwing everyones photos there. I have decided I ought to update my blog so here goes.
First off I am feeling sad that summer has almost come to an end, I do enjoy having warm weather where you can go outside and enjoy it without the worry of getting cold or slipping on or driving on the snow and ice. Spring started us off right with the birth of our second grandchild, Kenneth and Ashly had a sweet little baby girl they named Kassie and she is beautiful. It is fun to have a new baby around. We have had a good summer starting it out with preparing for Shawn and Pamela's wedding. They are a cute couple and we are getting to know Shawn a little better and have found out he has quite a sense of humor that makes it fun to be around him. Their marriage has brought a new granddaughter to us, her name is Madison, we met her at the wedding and she is adorable, she came up to me and whisppered "do you know that when Pam marries my dad she will be my mom" I thought that was very cute. We are glad to have Shawn and Madison as an addition to our family.
This summer we also made a trip to Park City to visit Kay C and Jessica to see where they live, they have a nice apartment and Jessica has decorated it well. While we were there they wanted to take us to see some of the stores that are there, so I told Kay C to drive our car because he knew where we were going, so he takes a shortcut through this parking lot where 3 cops are parked, and we thought he shouldn't go that way but he said it was alright, well he turns onto the road looks in his mirror and says hum I think I am getting pulled over. The cop comes to the window and tells him his windshield is badly cracked and that is why he got pulled over. I guess that is Kay C's luck we had that broken windshield for a few months and it was never a problem, but it turned out we didn't have a current insurance paper in the car so the cop went and checked us out and came back and just gave Kay C a verbal warning, then we were on our way. They have some cool stores in Park City we bought Karter a pair of spongebob crocks, and he was thrilled.
We decided not to go to Elk Horn this summer to camp because we always get rained on so much, but I did take a day and go visit everyone who decided to go and enjoyed seeing and visiting with them. We did go camping, we decided to go to Navajo Lake at the end of July, with Kenneth and Ashly and Pam and Shawn , and spent 3 or 4 days there and Dawnita and Jeff wanted to go camping so we told them to come and join us and it was fun to have them there, but sure enough it rained on us there too. We had one evening when trying to cook dutch oven chicken over the fire and it decided to rain and not just a little It pored putting out our fire out, and getting us all wet even though we were under the awning. The next day turned out to be a nice day and we hiked with Kenneth and Ashly to Cascade Falls, and they are very pretty and it was a good hike, so it didn't rain the whole time we were there but it rained plenty.
Now that summer is coming to an end my sweetheart decides he wants to use the rest of his vacation days he has built up at Ace and tells me we are going on a trip to Alaska, so we are ending the summer with a bang we will be flying to Alaska on Sep. 10 and coming home on the 15. I have never been on plane and I am nervous about getting motion sick but at the same time excited about going. Mindy is really happy we are coming so she can show us around, so it should be a fun time.
Well I am sure there are things I missed writing about but when we get back from Alaska I will blog about our trip, so that is all for now.

Well I have good news so I decided to write about it on my blog. Kenneth and Ashly are back in Richfield the job didn't turn out to be what they wanted in Colorado. Kenneth said the job was fine and kind of fun but the living conditions were bad. He said the percentage of people on the job were Mexican and that was alright but most everyone that worked there were doing drugs. The bathroom facility was bad the sewer was backed up every day he said he even had to brush his teeth with the sinks backed up with crud. If the people serving food ran out before everyone was fed that was too bad you just went without. Kenneth also ended up being there without Ashly because they went into a work camp and so she had to come to back to Richfield so with every thing they decided even though the pay was good it wasn't good enough to live that way and apart. Kenneth and Ashly have been looking for a job ever since and finally he got a job up to Aspen Ranch where Austin works he has been working there for a week which is part of the good news. Since they have been back they have been coming to our ward alot for church and Bishop Julander has been working with them and the best news is that they are going to go to the temple for their endowments and to be sealed on the 8th of Oct. We are very excited for them and were surprised because it came all of a sudden. If you have a recomend and would like to come you are welcome to. The session is at 11:30 you need to be to the Manti temple by 11:00 the sealing is at 1:30 and will be a white sealing and you would need to be there by 1:00.
Now as if this weren't enough good news they came over to our house a couple of nights ago and announced they are expecting and brought ultra sound pictures to show us the baby, they are 3 months along and are due on their anniversay March 29th. We couldn't be happier for them.
Last week was the pits it seemed like every thing was going wrong and so their news has made every thing around here great.
Oh and by the way Pam met a guy by the name of Shawn and is really taken by him, so she has a boyfriend whom she says is the most amazing guy in the world, so she is liking Cedar much better these days. She and Shawn came for a visit last weekend so we got to know hime a little he seemed a little quiet but I am sure it was because he was nervous. He seems very nice and treats Pam really well.
I guess that is about all the news for now, other things have happened that weren't as fun but I don't want to write about them they are past and everything is looking good now.

New Job

I decided to write about what I posted on facebook because of comments i received. Kenneth and Ashly were promised things for their job at Fish Lake that they never received like being put on salary so they would have enough money to live on during the winter, it never happened. They were also promised a food allowance during the winter because their are not any cooks there at that time and that didn't happen. They have been given an awful cabin to live in that always smells like propane leaking unless they leave the heat on all the time. The people running the lodge and lakeside have also put a new demand on them to remain at Fish Lake after they have finished their days work. They want Kenneth and Ashly to be there 24 hours a day seven days a week so they can reach them at any time by radio, but they will not pay them for any extra time and Kenneth says he will not be their slave. Ashly's brother-in-law works in Colorado doing seismographic work (i don't know how to spell it,but spellcheck did) anyway they have been working with him and last night at 8:30 they found out they got the job. They informed Fish Lake and came to Richfield packed their things came to our house for lunch to tell us goodbye and headed for Colorado because they have to be there tomorrow for orientation. It came on them fast, I just hope it turns out to be all they want and works out well for them, but I hated to have them leave because we got to see them quite often so I am going to have Kenneth and Ashly withdrawals.

Flaming Gorge

Kay C called me one day back in May and asked me if we were going to have a family camping trip this year, so he got me to thinking it would be really nice if we all could get together for a camping trip. I went to Coy and told him he needed to commit to a time when he could get away from work and farming and so he did. Thus it began, trying to figure out a place that everyone could enjoy something. I was having a hard time coming up with a place and than Kenneth suggested Flaming Gorge. I got a hold of all the kids and the planning began. We have enjoyed going to Elk Horn a couple of times but the last time it rained so much and being in tents well it was miserable so we decided against that. We reserved camping sites at the firefighters campground in Flaming Gorge and so that is where we went. We knew all of us would be in tents and so we hoped for good weather and we were lucky as we didn't get rained on at all and everyone came home with sunburns because it was hotter than we thought it would be in the mountains, but that was good for playing in the water. We bought a raft and the girls took Karter and went on the lake in the raft while the guys went fishing. Kenneth's Father-in-law was kind engouh to let Kenneth borrow his fishing boat for our trip so Kenneth took who ever wanted to out fishing. Coy was very excited to catch a mac. but didn't have any luck however they did catch some trout so all was not lost.
We were happy to have all of our family come and we look forward to doing another camping trip in the future.
We hope everyone is having a good summer and we are sad to think it is about over it seems like it just got started.
When we returned home we found out about Gary and are sad to hear of his condition. We are confident that with all our prayers for him that the surgery he needs will go well.
We hope this finds everyone else doing well.

Well I thought I would write about how my Memorial week has gone so far. We have been having a problem with Mindy's dog Jersey digging under the fence no matter how many times I rewire to keep her in. She is being a real pain and our little Moose just loves her so he has started following her well about 2 weeks ago Jersey did it again and Moose got out with her well Jersey comes back but not Moose. We found him the next day at the pound and were able to get him back for 35 dollars and a cussing out by the sheriff at the pound. Now we have decided Jersey has to live on a chain until we can find her a new home. On this last Thursday we go outside to check on things we have planted and there is Moose on the wrong side of the fence, you guessed it even though Jersey is chained up she is still digging at the fence. Coy and I are trying to coax Moose back to our fence so we can bring him back through the hole, Coy gets to the hole first and on my way Alaska our wolf dog decides he wants attention running in my path knocking my feet out from under me and so I meet the ground flat on my back. Coy gets Moose than asks me what the heck I am doing on the ground Ha Ha. any way he helps me up a little sore but all is good. Well the next day we go with Val's family to the carnival to watch Karter go on rides and wouldn't you know I am lucky enough to find the only hole on the park to walk into and I meet the ground again twisting the same foot Alaska twisted for me the day before Coy saying why didn't you watch where you are going Ha Ha and he and Austin help me up all is good I am just a bit more sore than before and my foot is tender but all is good. Well now it is Monday and my dryer is dead it has been squeaking for a while but it doesn't do that any more it does nothing, but all is good the fence still works and better to have the dryer gone than the washer right. Well this is my holiday weekend the good news is the week has to get better, and I did enjoy watching Karter at the carnival he loved the slide.
If anyone is looking for a dog I have a purebred Beagle they can have for free.
Coy and I did go out and put flowers on his parents and on mothers grave yesterday I know Terry put some out and so did someone else and Mother's grave looks very nice for today.
Well that is about it I hope everyone is having a good Memorial day.

Sunday, May 3, 2009

Well I have had a couple of busy days this week. Coy helped me load up the truck with a bed and the old computer and than I headed to Cedar City on Thur. to help Pam and Mindy move. I met up with Pam and we got her stuff moved inbetween she would have to take a couple of breaks to go do some finals for college. We were unpacking her stuff and realized she didn't have a dresser so on friday we went looking for a dresser and found a set at a Catholic thrift store so we have her all set up. Mindy and Mark brought a load of her stuff on Thur. and went back to st. George to get another load they brought on Fri. Mindy still had more so they went back to St. George again and she will be all moved in on either today or Monday. I am glad to get them settled.
I have also been tending Karter this weekend until 11pm, so I have been busier than I usually am and today I am just tired. Coy needs some help with moving some pipe for irrigation so we are staying home from church to get him ready for water.
I have been doing the farm game on facebook and it is fun and addicting as alot of you already know from doing it yourselves. Well I guess that is all for now.

Friday, April 3, 2009

Well I am ready for it to get warm. One time there I thought it was starting, I tilled the garden planted 3 rows of peas and planted some new lawn seed. I got tricked though, because it has been cold and stormy since. Coy has been trying to start farming inbetween the bad weather and he has high hopes, yesterday he turned the water sprinklers back on so i can keep the lawn seed wet ha ha!
Dawnita and Jeff were here on Sunday and it was nice to visit them. I would have liked to had them here longer but it started snowing pretty hard so they needed to get going so they wouldn't have trouble with the canyon and I was glad when I knew they made it home safe.
I have been tending our little Karter quite a bit this week. I am finding out how busy he can be, I don't remember my kids being climbers but Karter is and he can reach anything he wants he just moves one of the chairs climbs up on it and he has got it and I follow him and take it away. It seems to be a constant game. Yesterday he got into the little tool chest and had a small wrench he took around the house acting like he was tightening things up it was cute. I sure love him and am happy he is close by, but he wears me out.
Well I don't have much news but thought I would just write something.

Thursday, March 12, 2009

I have had an interesting time, my kitchen sink decided to plug up on me. I knew Coy was going to be busy do some farming today, so at 12:00 a.m. I decided to treat the drain with some drain declogger before I went to bed so it could sit for 6 hours like the directions said and went to bed. Well I couldn't sleep like usual so at 12:40 a.m. I got up and entertained myself playing solitaire on the computer until 2:00, than went back to bed. I was awake at 7:30 and decided to get up and go see how the sink turned out. Well you guessed it, it was still plugged so I plunged it and poured more goop down it and let it sit for awhile I did this for four times and would have done it more but I ran out of goop. I than got the hose out and decided I would try and use it to push the plug through. Coy told me to undo the garbage disposal and run the hose through that way and than he went back to farming. Well I tried but couldn't get the pipe apart from the disposal which was probably a good thing so by this time I threw my hands up and said forget it. Coy finally came home from burning ditches at 6:00 p.m. got the hose ran it through a pipe from outside the house and had the drain clear in a matter of minutes. I didn't know weather to be upset or glad because I had tried so hard to do it so I wouldn't have to bother him anyway it is fixed and my dishes finally got washed. Hooray! I hope your day was better than mine and that mine is better tomorrow.

Tagged

Dawnita says I have been tagged.
1. One thing about me is that I am not very smart when it comes to computer stuff. I don't know how to link to the person who tagged me or how I am really supposed to tag others so if you are reading this consider yourself tagged.

2. I love seeing my kids. I enjoy having them come home or call me on the phone for what ever reason. I don't know how people get along who don't want to have kids.

3. I also love animals well mostly dogs and cats I really don't like cows I had to deal with them too much when we had the dairy and they can be a big pain.

4. I like putting puzzles together once I start I can't seem to quit until they are done. I have a hard time tearing them apart though and if I glue them together I don't know what to do with them anyway they are still fun.

5. I like doing crafty things only problems is I am not very creative when it comes to thinking of them.

6. I also like to go camping and I enjoy it the most when the wheather cooperates because bad wheather is hard on tent camping. Visiting around a campfire and playing games are some of the better parts of camping. I really enjoy camping when it is by a lake or creek they are neat to listen too and it is fun to fish when you are out camping.

There you have my six things now it is your turn.
We had an interesting afternoon yesterday. Our garbage disposal quit working so Coy brought one home on Wednesday and yesterday at about 1:00 pm we decided to put it in. Coy took it out of the box and showed me how easy it would be, so we started. 8:30 we are still trying to get it in so, frustrated Coy said call Terry and see if he knows some kind of trick for getting the thing on. I called Terry and of course it was hard for him to tell us what we were doing wrong because he needed to see what we were talking about. Than all of a sudden , while I was talking to Terry, Coy says he finally got it to clamp. Hooray only to find out it wasn't as long as the old one so the piping didn't match up, well I told Terry thanks for listening to our frustration and hung up. Meanwhile Coy says talking to Terry must have inspired him and he was able to make the piping work and today we have a new disposal that works great. I am sure Coy was thrilled to spend his day off putting it in. Today has been a pretty slow day so that is all the news I have, I hope everyone has a happy sweethearts day tomorrow Bye

Thursday, February 5, 2009

Hi all I guess it is time to do this again. I told Annie I don't ever have anything to write about and she said write about the kids so here goes. Last week we got to see Kay C because he was having trouble with a tooth so he came here to go to our dentist and it was good to see him. The next day we were going to go to the temple with our bishop but that fell through so we went to Provo to pick up the suits we had bought for Coy. While we were there we went to see Kay C and Jessica but they were at the church so Kay C could play church basketball . We went to the church and visited with Jessica while we watched Kay C play ball.
We get to see Kenneth and Ashly every week and they gave us good news they have decided to take the temple classes at our ward starting a week from Sunday so we are excited for that. Pam and Mindy are excited because they are going to a concert together on Sat. in St. George I think the group is Hinder or something like that I haven't heard of them so I am not sure I got that right. Val & Austin are still next door so we see them often and get to tend and love that little Karter often. I don't think I will ever let them move because I would have to go through Karter withdrawl and that would be too hard. I guess that is all to blog about for now, I will try and blog faster next time but don't count on it.

Saturday, January 17, 2009

I thought I should write something new here but I really don't have a lot to write about. I thought I would just say hi to everyone and hope things are going good. I may have more to write next week as Pamela is coming home this next weekend and I am looking forward to seeing her. She has decided to stay at Cedar for another semester even though she doesn't like it there and she has changed her major to Elementry Education with a specialty in art. I haven't done much since the New Year started so that is all for now.

Saturday, January 3, 2009

Dawnita says I need to write something new on my blog so here goes. I hope everyone had a good Christmas and New Year. I enjoyed Christmas Eve better than Christmas day because we had Kenneth and Ashly and Pam here and played password, and apple to apple it turned out to be a lot of fun. I was glad they were here it made it so Christmas didn't seem so lonely. Coy, Pam, and I enjoyed opening gifts together Christmas, than I spent most of the morning getting food ready for dinner. Kenneth and Ashly came over and ate with us and we opened gifts again with them. I too spent time in the afternoon talking with my kids and brother and sisters only I never was able to get a hold of Leana so I will try again later, I also talked with Dad and Dockie it sounded like everyone had a good one.
For New Years we again had Kenneth and Ashly over to play games and they brought a movie to watch it was Eagle Eye if you haven't seen it, it is a good movie. Now everything has quieted down and we are back to the same old stuff. It is so quiet that I decided to put the puzzle together that Kay C and Jessica gave me it is 1500 pieces so it should last me quite a while. The problem is that I get so invovled in putting puzzles together I don't get other things done. I guess that will do for now. Happy New Year

time flies

It has been a long time since I wrote. I can't believe how fast this month is going by. I am having a hard time getting things ready for Christmas I think it is because I have to get things bought in time to get them mailed to my kids this year. I haven't really known what to get them so it has been interesting. I am going to go to town tomorrow to see if I can finish up the things I need to get to be mailed. I hope next year will be easier after I get to know my new daughters better.
I have been to Provo twice shopping, I have been taking care of Karter, doing humanitarian quilts and getting ready for two birthdays. Yesterday I took a quilt I finished to the Relief Society Presidents house and she wasn't home but her husband was and I made a comment on the ping pong table they have in their covered patio area and I ended up playing ping pong with her husband it was kind of fun, It has been a while since I played it. Well that is all for now I am going to go and catch up on everyones blog now.

Moose

Ihope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving. We had a nice day. We started by waking up to snow. I have never been to Fish Lake when there was snow and it was beautiful to see. The good thing is that it was just a small amount so all you were traveling got there safely. It was interesting having three families all trying to cook for the dinner in the same small kitchen but somehow it worked and dinner turned out great. While cooking dinner a lady came to the cabin the Kenneth knew he had told her about Pamela taking photography in college so she wanted to pay Pamela to come and take their pictures. As you can see she raises puppies to sell this little puppy is selling for 400 dollars and Pam wanted the puppy instead of money so they gave him to her for payment. He is a maltese and Shitzu mix (however you spell them) and will only get to weight 5 pounds. The people who had him were staying at the moose hollow cabin so Pam named him Moose. I have him right now while she gets approval to keep him in her apartment, but I am getting attached so she may have trouble taking him there. Thats all we need another pet around but he is too cute to resist.

Happy Thanksgiving

Coy and I will be heading up to Fish Lake to spend Thanksgiving with Kenneth and Ashly and so I won't have time to write til after Thanksgiving is over and I just want to tell everyone Happy Thanksgiving. We are going to have all our family there and some of Ashly's so we should have a pretty big one. I am cooking a turkey for the dinner so we are headed up there early so I can do that. I am hoping the weather will not interfere too bad, I know it is supposed to be stormy but I am hoping for rain only. Have a good Thanksgiving and be safe.

Pies

Today I decided to make my pies for Thanksgiving. Kenneth was happy about it because he had the day off and was here so he got to have pie dough scraps plus a piece of pumkin pie. I started my pie making at 9:00 this morning and finished at 2:00 this afternoon. I ended up making 11 pies.
Tomorrow we are going to go and work on Val's bathroom again, I hope we get this project done soon.
I had a suprise on Monday Mindy came to visit. She said she missed us and needed some hugs. She stayed until this morning, it was fun to see her for a couple of days.
I hope everyone else had a good day.

Remodeling

Alright I will write another note. I am not very good at doing this blog thing. We have been busy this past week trying to get Val's house back in good shape since her basement got flooded by irrigation water on Oct 13th. We have pulled out the old wet carpet and the wet sheetrock and have put up new sheetrock this week. We have also been remodeling their bathroom so they could have a bathtub. The old shower was built out of some kind of iron or tin that was very heavy and put in very well with a cement floor and iron drain. We have pulled out the old shower, and cupboards that were there and Terry has been over for the last 2 days rebuilding the drain and putting in copper pipes along with a subfloor to put the new tub in. The length of the bathroom is 59 and3/4 long and the tub is 60 so it took a lot to get the tub in the room and after removing the old plaster on the walls it gave us barely enough room. Terry and I worked with lifting and inching and a bit of time and patience on Terry's part with having me as a helper we finally got it in. We still need to put the surround wall up but that is waiting until another day because we were wore out. I have been happy that Terry is able to help us non plumbers out.
I am glad Gary is home and hope things go well for him.
My heart also goes out to Rochelle and her family as they go through the rough time making their new baby well through all the surgeries she has to undergo.
We love you all
